Centralized Management – Node Manager

The Node Manager is the tool used in managing all node-specific configuration data. In contrast to the map, it displays the information in tabular form. The various depictions are clearly grouped and can be individually sorted and filtered by each column.

  • Node Attributes
Tabular display of a node’s most important settings and status.
  • Addresses
Tabular display of all addresses for the node.
  • Poll Definitions
Tabular display of all special polling settings for a node.

All node and status information as well as all node-related configurations and settings can be called up and/or made from here. The nodes are displayed pursuant to each respective user’s authorization. New devices are detected automatically with Auto Discovery or they can also be added manually.

Keeping the Overview – the NetworkManager Group Concept

It can often be difficult to zero in on nodes in larger networks, which is why a user can assign nodes to certain groups or even have these allocations made automatically. The following groups are pre-defined:

  • Function Groups
Classification according to node function. Nodes are assigned automatically.
  • Cost Centers
Customer-specific classification based on cost centers. User-definable designations and hierarchical divisions. Nodes are assigned manually.
  • Custom Groups
Customer-specific classification. User-definable designations and hierarchical divisions. Nodes are assigned manually.
  • Departments
Customer-specific classification according to departments. User-definable designations and hierarchical divisions. Nodes are assigned manually.
  • Locations
Customer-specific classification based on relevant sites. User-definable designations and hierarchical divisions. Nodes are assigned manually.
  • History Groups
Customer-specific classification for statistics data via web console.
User-definable designations. Nodes are assigned manually.

Analyses can also be made through the Web Console and issued as group-specific reports based on the appropriate settings. The optional theGuard! NetworkManager Reporting Console would be necessary in this case.
