Many applications use resources from operating systems, databases and middleware systems like mail and Web servers or J2EE servers without offering their own specific monitoring interface. However, they can be monitored and analyzed comprehensively through the combination of various data collectors.
The following components of general applications can be monitored and analyzed in detail:
- application processes (CPU, memory, etc.) through the operating system data collector
- application data files and disk space through the operating system data collector
- application logs through the File Parser data collector
- application status and specific attributes through the Open Monitor Data Collector
The modeling of all information permits the:
- application-specific visualization in the monitors of theGuard! ApplicationManager
- relevant data analysis in line with the service level analysis
- visualization in the form of business maps within theGuard! ServiceDesk
