At Deutsche Post AG, REALTECH consultants took the system live with more than 20 connected SAP R/3 systems. Ms. Voigt-Bühler, who ran the FIBU (NL) project during the summer of '96, comments:
"If we had believed the sceptic, we never would have gone live on January 1, 1996! In addition to the application and organizational challenges, the technical aspects of the implementation where totally new territory. Deutsche Post AG now runs the largest R/3 database under Windows NT in the world.
In early 1995, we contracted REALTECH to support the technical realization. Together with this young company, we put together the necessary plans: hardware, installation, upgrade and so on. When we had technical problems - and we had plenty - we could always rely on REALTECH.
You can only go live with 20 R/3 systems if your concept and design are watertight. We worked with REALTECH to design our own installation and upgrade guidelines, backup and recovery concepts, software logistics, administration procedures etc. Going live on January 1 was technically viable.
The live R/3 systems had to be administered as well. Here again, we were able to rely on REALTECH. They planned the operator area, trained our employees and helped us with the daily system administrative tasks."
