Poste Italiane enhances change request management with TransportManager


Cutting-edge technology is key to ensuring that Poste Italiane’s operations run smoothly and efficiently, delivering the consistently high standards its customers demand. It is therefore vital that the company’s SAP R/3 4.6C and SAP Business Information Warehouse systems remain up and running at all times – after all, a failure could have serious repercussions for a large number of businesses and households throughout Italy, and would be extremely damaging to Poste Italiane’s image. Change requests play a major role in boosting the performance of Poste Italiane’s SAP solutions, and keeping them up to speed with changing business requirements.

The project


Against this background, Poste Italiane was looking for a state-of-the-art change request management solution for its SAP systems. Change requests are managed by the company’s in-house SAP Competence Center. There, they used to be handled by one person, who transferred them manually between the development, test, and production environments – a timeconsuming process, with a high risk of errors.
To streamline these tasks, Poste Italiane needed a solution capable of automatically managing change requests and the associated transfers.
To master these challenges, Poste Italiane opted for REALTECH's TransportManager. Now that the TransportManager solution is firmly in place, Poste Italiane enjoys a number of benefits, including highly automated change request management and enhanced security. Integrated user authentication ensures that the interface can be accessed only by authorized personnel. In addition, TransportManager enables the company to manage its IT resources more effectively. All in all, the REALTECH solution adds up to more speed, more reliability, more satisfied users – with lower costs and better functionality.
In light of the resounding success of TransportManager, Poste Italiane is now considering extending the solution to cover all of its SAP platforms. The company is also performing assessments relating to a possible future implementation of REALTECH’s theGuard! ApplicationManager.
