REALTECH to present "theGuard! SmartChange Application Security & Code Profiling" at Sapphire NOW 2011

Walldorf, November 7, 2011 – REALTECH AG, a provider of software solutions for enterprise-wide IT management and a SAP consultancy, will present a new solution at this year's Sapphire NOW (November 9-10, 2011 in Madrid): "theGuard! SmartChange Application Security & Code Profiling" checks ABAP-based SAP applications for vulnerabilities and flaws in their programming logic. These can then be remedied by REALTECH consultants specializing in the field. This allows companies to minimize the risk of security breaches in the developments and applications used to maintain their business operations. This applies to their in-house developments as well as those provided by third parties. The elimination of inefficient programming logic will speed up processes. This in turn has a positive effect on the satisfaction of business users.

By combining product and consulting services, also in the context of fully integrated SAP security consulting services, REALTECH has developed an end-to-end approach that makes SAP applications more efficient and more secure and protects business-critical data from unauthorized access.

theGuard! SmartChange Application Security & Code Profiling is based on a technology that is used by SAP itself as a fast and efficient way to internally review its applications before shipment. The solution not only checks for syntactical errors, but also takes into account weaknesses in the data and control flows. A report is created to conclude the review. These reports include a list of vulnerabilities sorted by priority and specific recommendations on how to address them. The solution is also able to automatically eliminate up to 70 % of potential security bugs and weaknesses that could have a negative impact on the performance of the software. More complex code adjustments can be performed by REALTECH's expert consultants who are able to adapt them to individual requirements and put them into context with other aspects of security, such as the different SAP authorizations.
 

Quality assurance and process optimization

In addition to finding vulnerabilities that can be exploited to inject code and execute operating system commands, the solution also detects unauthorized transactions.
