Novell and REALTECH announce distribution partnership

The areas of cooperation will include strategic SAP consulting and the implementation of Linux-based SAP solutions

Zurich, May 20, 2008 – The partnership between Novell AG (Switzerland) and REALTECH AG (Germany) is specifically tailored to address companies that wish to run their SAP solution on the SUSE Linux Enterprise operating system. Novell and REALTECH will also migrate and consolidate heterogeneous SAP system environments to the Linux open source operating system. The objective of the partnership is to deliver consulting services to companies in Switzerland looking for more efficient ways to operate their SAP systems and to provide them with a powerful, stable, and cost-effective platform.

Novell will cooperate more closely with SAP in the future in order for customers who choose to work with the open-source-based software to be able to take advantage of SAP's business applications, the SUSE Linux Enterprise platform, and Novell's cross-platform identity management technologies. The two companies are planning to optimize SUSE Linux Enterprise for SAP's infrastructure solutions for data centers, to further promote SAP Business All-in-One offerings based on SUSE Linux Enterprise, and to strengthen their customers' governance, risk, and compliance practices.

REALTECH AG, a SAP consultancy and manufacturer of application and system management software, has an excellent reputation in the SAP consulting and implementation market. The experience gained during numerous SAP projects has made REALTECH the consulting and implementation partner of choice for many companies. Various SAP certifications, such as the Special Expertise Partnership (SEP), which is awarded only to selected companies, document the skills and expertise of REALTECH's consultants. REALTECH has devoted considerable time and attention to SAP solutions on Linux for many years now and has completed numerous migration and implementation projects for international customers during that period.

SAP actively supports Linux
More than 700 small and mid-sized SAP customers have already embraced SUSE Linux Enterprise. Future SAP Business All-in-One offerings will also be based on SUSE Linux Enterprise and will deliver an exceptionally low total cost of ownership (TCO). Furthermore, SAP has also chosen SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as the platform for its SAP Business ByDesign offering.
